You are precious, valuable, and treasured.
For so long, I believed that if others approve of me or if I excelled at something, I must be enough. My worth and value were tied to these things. As a recovering people pleaser, I’ve realized that my tendency to gain the approval of others or to find my worth in what I do, was tied to NOT believing the truth about myself. The truth is…
In Christ, I am precious.
In Christ, I am valuable.
In Christ, I am treasured.
If I’m being honest, I would say these statements are difficult to believe about myself. I think to myself, “God says that I am precious, valuable, and treasured? REALLY?”
Why… yes, really!
The more I seek to know God and His character, the less I believe what I think and the more I believe what HE says about me. I then can exchange the lies in my head and heart with the truth found in Scripture. Instead of speaking negatively about myself, I now speak what is TRUE!
I AM PRECIOUS!
I AM VALUABLE!
I AM TREASURED!
After all, I bear the image of God! He says I am precious in His sight and He chose me to be His treasured possession. And, I choose to take Him at His Word! My prayer is that you will take Him at His Word, too. Because YOU are ALSO so precious, valuable, and treasured.
Below are some Scriptures for you to meditate on. May they be an encouragement to you!
“Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.” (Isaiah 43:4)
Let’s step back and think about WHO is speaking here. God Himself is talking! He is saying to the children of Israel, that they are precious and honored in His sight and He LOVES them. Now, personalize this verse with YOUR NAME. He says this about YOU, too!
“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27)
You and I bear the actual image of our Creator. We were created in the image of God so that we’d reflect who He is and what He is like. Because of this, we can live, think, speak, and feel in a way that displays God’s creativity, power, beauty, and glory!
“Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be His treasured possession.” (Deuteronomy 14:2)
Out of the 7 billion people on the planet, God chose YOU. And He didn’t just choose you to be ordinary or run of the mill, He chose you to be His TREASURED POSSESSION! YOU are hand-picked. God called you by name to be His very own daughter and He wants to shower YOU with His unconditional love.
The Key to Unlocking Our Identity in Christ
The more we know the character of God, the more we know our true selves. And then, the need for the approval of others or validation in what we do, along with the false beliefs we believe about ourselves — all begins to fade.
The key to unlocking our identity in Christ is for us to know WHO we are and WHOSE we are! In this powerful realization, we can then live a life of courage and confidence, because our identities are rooted in Christ.
